Countering nearly three years of media lies, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has gone on the offensive, exposing the names and details of 170 Gaza terrorists who posed as journalists.
“Over the past three years of the war, numerous articles, opinion pieces and reports have repeated the claim that the IDF deliberately targets journalists in Gaza, in violation of international law,” the IDF said in a statement on Friday. “But that claim does not tell the full story. Individuals presented as innocent journalists were, in fact, militants in the military wings of Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) and other terrorist organizations.”

For too long, ignorant media talking heads, talk show hosts, and podcasters have been throwing out fantastical numbers of “journalists” killed in Israeli military operations. Now the IDF is hitting back with hard figures and facts.
The IDF has set up a “dedicated website” containing 170 names and “verified evidence, including visual materials and documents produced by the terrorist organizations themselves and recovered by IDF troops during operations in Gaza exposing their terrorist affiliations and roles within terrorist organizations.”
The uploaded databank shows their membership status in terror outfits, along with pictures of them posing in terrorist uniforms and their obituaries released by Hamas or Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ).
These slain Gaza-based terrorists “presented themselves as legitimate media professionals while serving terrorist organizations that regularly use propaganda and psychological warfare,” the IDF added.
The truth will set you free. The @IDF just published a list of 170 Gazan terrorists who doubled as journalists during the war. Including stringers from multiple main stream media organization. https://t.co/RZodEF1Dpc https://t.co/uQjK6gxvkL

The Israeli military built this database for journalists who report in good faith. It gives reporters the tools they need to independently check the facts. While this might be true in a few cases, mainstream news outlets have been going out of their way to validate the Hamas-controlled “Ministry of Health” and terrorist-linked rights groups.
The IDF continued:
Time and time again throughout the war, various media outlets in the international community accused the State of Israel and the IDF, without verified data or findings, of deliberately targeting journalists, even when, in some cases, the terrorist organizations themselves claimed those individuals as their own and identified them as military operatives.
The information currently presented illustrates the gap between the picture portrayed to the world and the reality on the ground, and further demonstrates additional conclusive evidence that the IDF does not deliberately and systematically target journalists, but rather operates against terrorist organizations and their military operatives, in accordance with international law.
For the purpose of exposing these cases, the IDF has established a dedicated website compiling the names and photographs of 170 military operatives, as well as their roles, terrorist affiliations, and additional evidence that can be disclosed regarding them.

Recent reports once again highlight how deeply journalists are embedded in Hamas’s network. Last month, celebrated Gaza Photojournalist Motaz Azaiza admitted that numerous journalists like him were in a Hamas-linked WhatsApp group called “Smart” that influenced media coverage.
170.
That’s the number of Hamas and Islamic Jihad operatives the IDF can confirm were passed off as “journalists.”
