The National Online Legal Notice Drafting Competition 2026 is organised by Nutan Maharashtra Vidya Prasarak Mandal (NMVPM) Trust through Late Adv. Ku. Shalaka Santosh Khandge Law College, Talegaon Dabhade, Pune.

Established in 2025, the College is affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, recognised by the Government of Maharashtra and approved by the Bar Council of India. It is committed to quality legal education, academic excellence, professional competence and ethical values.

About the Competition

The National Online Legal Notice Drafting Competition 2026 is a practical, simulated legal drafting exercise for undergraduate law students across India. A legal notice is a pre-litigation communication through which a grievance or claim is formally presented, the basis of the demand is identified and an opportunity for resolution is provided before legal proceedings are initiated.

The competition will involve preparation of a Legal Notice, a Reply to the Legal Notice and an Online Interview/Viva Voce. One participant in each pair will prepare the Legal Notice and the other will prepare the Reply. Both participants will appear for the Interview/Viva Voce.

Objective of the Competition

The competition aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical legal practice by strengthening participants’ legal drafting, analytical reasoning, professional communication and advocacy skills.

Participants will analyse a factual dispute, identify relevant legal issues, develop legal reasoning and formulate effective demands or defences through professionally structured legal documents.

Competition Structure

Participants may choose any one of the following problem statements:

  • Problem Statement I: Recovery of Unpaid Wages from a Private Company – Ms. Riya Sharma v. Zenith Digital Solutions Pvt. Ltd.

  • Problem Statement II: Recovery of Contractual Dues from the Government – M/s Aarav Infrastructure v. State of Maharashtra & Ors.
