Call for Student Ambassadors Indian Mediation Week by Sama

Indian Mediation Week (IMW) is India’s largest student-run Access to Justice campaign. It began in 2017 when a group of law students at NUJS Kolkata walked out of campus with pamphlets to talk to strangers about mediation, a process most Indians had never heard of.

It has since grown into a nationwide movement spanning 100+ cities, with thousands of student ambassadors and millions of citizens introduced to mediation for the first time.

About Sama

Indian Mediation Week is an initiative of Sama, India’s leading Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform. Since 2019, Sama has facilitated the filing of over 2.5 crore disputes and the resolution of more than 55 lakh cases, with an average resolution time of 45 days, working with 8+ government bodies and 75+ enterprises. Sama is headquartered in Bengaluru.

About the Opportunity

Nine years ago, IMW began with a group of law students, a stack of pamphlets, and a belief that access to justice shouldn’t stop at the courtroom door. That belief built India’s largest student-led movement for justice.

This year, on its 10th edition, we’re calling on a new generation of students to lead it forward, on the ground, in their own cities. If you’ve ever wanted to lead something bigger than yourself, build a team from scratch, and walk away with real leadership experience instead of another line on your resume, this is it.

For its 10th edition, IMW is going back to where it all started, the streets, the cities, the state, and the country. As a student ambassador, you won’t just be attending an event. You’ll be leading one, in your own city.

This is what you’ll actually get to do:

  • Build and lead your own team of student volunteers, recruit them, train them, and run your city’s campaign like a founder runs a startup
  • Run mediation awareness drives on the ground, having real conversations with real people who’ve never heard the word “mediation” before you told them
  • Grow as a leader, not just a participant, every ambassador goes through structured training, mentorship, and a milestone-based journey designed to build the exact skills law firms and organisations look for: communication, ownership, and the ability to rally people around an idea
  • Get recognised for it, through badges, leaderboards, and rewards that track your impact
  • Represent your college on a national stage at IMW’s closing ceremony

This year’s edition runs from November 2026 to February 2027, with breaks built in around your exams, because we want your city’s mediation movement to grow, not your grades to suffer.

By the end of it, you won’t just have organised a campaign. You’ll have led one, and that’s a very different thing to put on a CV.

Who Is It For / Eligibility
