Courtroom Etiquette, Commitment and Leadership Essential for Future Lawyers: Allahabad HC Judges at RPNLU

Prayagraj, October 4: Calling upon young law students to combine legal competence with professional ethics and leadership, Justice Prakash Padia and Justice Tej Pratap Tiwari of the Allahabad High Court on Sunday shared valuable insights into the legal profession with students of Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University (RPNLU), Prayagraj.

Speaking at the valedictory ceremony of the 2nd Grand Intra Moot Court Competition and the 3rd Conquerors Intra Moot Court Competition, Chief Guest Justice Prakash Padia stressed that sincerity, dedication and commitment are the foundations of a successful legal career. He highlighted the importance of understanding the nuances of the profession and urged students to develop proper courtroom etiquette, professional discipline and dignified conduct, observing that legal knowledge must be complemented by the ability to present oneself responsibly before the court.

Justice Tej Pratap Tiwari on Leadership, Integrity and Rule of Law

Special Guest of Honour Justice Tej Pratap Tiwari urged students to cultivate leadership qualities, confidence and a strong sense of responsibility from the formative years of their legal education. Referring to the ancient maxim “Dharmo Rakshati Rakshitah”, he reminded the students that those who protect and uphold the law are themselves protected by it. He emphasised that professional success and lasting respect in the legal profession are rooted not only in competence but also in integrity and commitment to the rule of law.

Grand Intra Moot Court and Conquerors Intra Moot Court Competitions

The two competitions, organised on 19–20 September and 3–4 October 2026, respectively, provided students with an opportunity to engage with complex legal issues through mooting in Constitutional Law and Commercial Law. The competitions also exposed students to the practical dimensions of advocacy, legal research, memorial drafting and courtroom presentation.

Welcoming the distinguished guests, Vice-Chancellor Sr. Prof. (Dr.) Usha Tandon encouraged students to actively participate in academic competitions, observing that such platforms develop efficiency, confidence, analytical ability, teamwork and other professional capabilities essential for a successful legal career.

Winners and Runners-Up

In the Grand Intra Moot Court Competition, Ms. Nehal Sharma, Ms. Stuti Mishra and Mr. Viplav Sinha emerged as the winning team, while Ms. Tejaswi Sharma, Mr. Suryansh Mishra and Ms. Nandini were runners-up.

In the Conquerors Intra Moot Court Competition, Ms. Nandini Kumari, Ms. Mrinalini Sharma and Ms. Shatakshi Bhardwaj secured the winning position, while Ms. Anushka Tomar, Ms. Taniska Verma and Ms. Ishika Singh were declared runners-up.

Senior Advocates and Legal Professionals Attend Ceremony

The ceremony was also attended by Sh. Vinay Kumar Khare and Sh. Anup Kumar Srivastava, Senior Advocates, Allahabad High Court, and Sh. Anubhav Chandra, Advocate, Allahabad High Court. Their interaction with the participants and practical observations on mooting and advocacy added significant value to the academic exercise.
