From the Orange Rag: Clifford Chance reimagines knowledge management for the AI era

Clifford Chance in July announced the launch of a new knowledge management platform, developed in partnership with Epiq Advisory for Law Firms and Microsoft. Legal IT Insider spoke with Clifford Chance’s global head of knowledge and training, Matt Taylor and chief technology officer Paul Greenwood about what’s new and why they say this is at the core of their knowledge strategy. The article originally featured in the July/August Orange Rag.

Built within Microsoft 365 and Azure, including SharePoint, Power Platform, Graph API, and Azure Studio, the knowledge bank is helping the firm to curate decades of knowledge into a repository that can be surfaced by the likes of Microsoft Copilot – combining a heavyweight natural language search assistant with proprietary data. The firm in doing so has overcome some of the inherent challenges of using Copilot to search for content in its iManage document management system, including respecting access permissions. It is also setting itself up to capture knowledge as reusable skills in a way that is understood by AI.
