The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Sunday launched a surprise nationwide exercise amid intelligence reports that Iran is plotting a coordinated, multi-front assault.
The daylong exercise named “Breaking Dawn 2.0” mobilized military units across the country and tested combat preparedness on multiple levels. “As part of the surprise exercise, commanders across the regional commands, directorates, and branches were called up. Forces are also being mobilized, and reserves are being assessed,” the IDF disclosed in a statement on Sunday afternoon.
“The surprise exercise is part of the IDF’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its foundations, as well as the operational readiness and preparedness of commanders and combat personnel at all levels,” the military added.
According to the IDF, the drill tested its “ability to respond to a sudden, complex, and large-scale, multi-front scenario.”

The Israeli TV channel i24NEWS noted that “Commanders were called up without warning as forces mobilized and reserves were assessed, with [IDF Chief of Staff Lt. General Eyal] Zamir overseeing the exercise from the Supreme Command Post and from the field.”
With the Jewish High Holidays set to begin next week, the military remains on high alert against the threat of a large-scale assault by the Iranian regime and its terrorist proxies in the neighborhood. “We are in a tense and volatile period across all arenas, and we are preparing for the upcoming holiday period,” IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. General Zamir, said after reviewing the exercise. “We continue to draw lessons, and as I have defined it, the baseline posture of the entire IDF is readiness for a surprise attack.”
“The exercise simulates a multi-arena war and allows us to examine the IDF’s readiness at all levels and across all formations, as well as the orders and their current applicability – from the General Staff level down to the level of units in the field,” he added. The exercise constitutes a significant part of the IDF’s preparations for the upcoming holiday period.”

As the third anniversary of the October 7 massacre approaches, Iran is plotting a large-scale sneak attack on Israel, according to an intelligence assessment obtained by The Jerusalem Post. The possible attack is designed to mirror the Hamas-led October 7 massacre, but deploy a fully coordinated terror offensive from Iran and its proxies, ranging from Lebanon’s Hezbollah to Yemen-based Houthis.

Iran is reportedly preparing for a broad, coordinated attack against Israel on several fronts simultaneously, Israeli assessments indicate, in a scenario resembling a future October 7-style assault but designed from the outset to bring together all components of the Iranian axis.
According to the alleged assessments, Iran is seeking to combine its own forces with Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas, the Houthis in Yemen and pro-Iranian militias in Iraq in a single campaign.
On October 7, Hamas launched its attack without the other fronts opening simultaneously and under full coordination. The idea of a broad regional war against Israel had emerged even earlier. Internal Hamas documents seized in the Gaza Strip after the attack indicated that Yahya Sinwar had sought to expand the confrontation and draw additional arenas into it.
One of the planning documents stressed the need to “connect and prepare the external fronts,” namely Lebanon, Syria and Sinai, as well as to agree in advance on communications mechanisms for both routine periods and wartime.
With the Trump administration strangling Iran’s last remaining economic lifeline and the U.S. military maintaining its ironclad blockade of Iranian ports, the desperate regime in Tehran in recent days has renewed its threats of attacking Israel. The Mullah regime is also reeling from the latest Israeli military success against Hezbollah after the IDF captured the terror group’s main command center in southern Lebanon.
