About the Indian Mediation Week
In 2017, two law students at NUJS Kolkata printed a few pamphlets, walked out of campus, and started talking to strangers about mediation, a process most Indians had never even heard of. No funding. No plan. Just a belief that access to justice shouldn’t be locked behind courtrooms.
That idea became Indian Mediation Week, today, India’s largest student-led movement for access to justice, spanning 100+ mediation drives across India, with thousands of ambassadors introducing mediation to people for the first time.
The same founders went on to build Sama, now one of India’s leading dispute resolution platforms, with a nationwide network of mediators, a consumer-facing resolution platform (Vikalp), and technology reshaping how India resolves conflict.
This year, Indian Mediation Week turns 10, and we’re building the core team that will make this edition the biggest one yet.
About Sama
Sama is India’s leading Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform, enabling mediation, arbitration, and conciliation entirely online for businesses, government bodies, and individuals.
Since 2019, Sama has facilitated the filing of over 2 crore disputes and the resolution of more than 34 lakh cases, with an average resolution time of 45 days. Sama is headquartered in Bengaluru and is also the organiser of Indian Mediation Week.
Role & Qualification
- Community, Culture & Training Lead: Young lawyer with ADR/mediation experience
- Growth & Partnerships Lead: Young lawyer with marketing/outreach experience
- Storytelling & Brand Lead: Young Lawyer/Video editor with content creation experience
- Technology & Verification Lead: Young lawyer/engineer, product/automation mindset
Responsibilities
- Community, Culture & Training Lead: Own the ambassador journey, training, curriculum, onboarding, and the culture that makes thousands of student ambassadors feel like they belong to something bigger.
- Growth & Partnerships Lead: Own outreach, bringing colleges, ambassadors, and institutional partners into the movement, and building the citizen pipeline into Vikalp.
- Storytelling & Brand Lead: Own how IMW looks, sounds, and travels, campaigns, reels, campus stories, and the visual identity of a national movement.
- Technology & Verification Lead: Own the systems, dashboards, automation, AI-driven tools, and the integrity of every drive and registration reported nationwide.

Location
Hybrid, people from Bangalore will be preferred, as they can visit our office once/twice a month.
Work Timings
Flexible, with an estimated commitment of 12–16 hours/week, increasing during peak campaign weeks.
Who Can Apply
This is not a short-term gig. We’re looking for people who want to build something. This is a 6-month, full-cycle leadership opportunity, from strategy to execution to the final Mediation Week in March 2027.
Applicants should be able to stay present through the entire arc: planning, ambassador onboarding, campus drives, partnerships, and the final celebration.
Candidates who have previously volunteered or worked with Indian Mediation Week will be preferred.

Salary/Stipend
₹15,000 per month, with additional rewards based on impact and ownership.
Duration of Project
6 months (October 2026 – March 2027)
