To the shock of no one, Fairfax County in Virginia, located five miles from the Pentagon, has awful 9/11 25th anniversary school lessons.
The county encouraged teachers not to link 9/11 to Islam or Muslims and to use content to create “safe spaces for Muslim and Middle Eastern students.”
Fairfax County’s new 9/11 teaching guide devotes roughly half its content to creating “safe spaces for Muslim and Middle Eastern students.” while mentioning military families just three times and first responders once.
The six-page document, obtained by Fox News Digital’s @AsraNomani, contains 30 references to Islam, “anti-Muslim racism,” and “Islamophobic rhetoric.” It explicitly tells teachers not to “associate the 9/11 attacks with Islam or Muslims” and not to “center the extremists or the acts of the extremists.” Only about 15% of the guide actually spells out specific 9/11 instruction.
Retired Vice Admiral Lou Crenshaw, who was inside the Pentagon when al-Qaeda terrorists flew a plane into the building, ripped the guide for failing to convey “the evilness of what actually happened,” calling it a sanitized, “vanilla” approach that shaves the facts until students can’t figure out what they’re learning about.

Teachers are told to “intentionally include Muslim Americans among the heroes, helpers, and victims” and to “intentionally disrupt the implicit associations between ‘Muslim,’ ‘outsider’ and ‘terrorist’ in our national discourse.”
The guide also tells educators that if they hear students or colleagues using “Islamophobic rhetoric,” “it is up to you to disrupt.”

“Islamophobic rhetoric.” What qualifies as “Islamophobic rhetoric?” I’m not surprised the directions didn’t specify the rhetoric or provide examples. It makes it easier for anyone to consider anything “Islamophobic.”
Also, what about the victims? What about the families who lost loved ones? What about the first responders?
The Fairfax County Public Schools statement to Fox News completely contradicts the lesson:
In a statement provided to Fox News Digital, Fairfax County Public Schools said the school community has a “deeply personal connection to September 11 because of our proximity to the Pentagon and the many military-connected families we serve.
“On the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, we remember the nearly 3,000 people who were killed, including 184 at the Pentagon. We remember the victims, their families, the survivors, and everyone whose lives were forever changed. We honor the first responders whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us,” the school district said.
“FCPS remains committed to creating an inclusive environment in our schools where all students feel welcome and respected as we strive to provide a world-class education and workplace.”
Well, Muslims should stop attacking America. My family is German and Italian. Lessons on WWI and WWII don’t make me uncomfortable, and I don’t expect any school to water down those lessons.
It is what it is. Muslims flew planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Muslims would have flown a fourth plane into something else, but those passengers stopped them.
