About the Organiser
Madhusudan Law University, located in Cuttack, is the premier law university of Odisha. It was formally established on April 28, 2021, and traces its legacy of legal education to 1869 through the erstwhile Madhusudan Law College, one of India’s oldest law institutions.
The University is named after Madhusudan Das, an eminent jurist, statesman and the first Odia lawyer.
About the Competition
The Sri Vishwanath Pasayat Memorial State Level Moot Court Competition 2026 is being organised by Madhusudan Law University, Cuttack, in collaboration with the Vishwanath Pasayat Memorial Committee, Cuttack.
The competition honours Sri Vishwanath Pasayat, a distinguished lawyer of Cuttack known for his commitment to justice for poor and underprivileged persons. The memorial competition has been conducted at the state and national levels since 2014.
The competition aims to provide law students from across Odisha with an opportunity to develop their advocacy, legal research and courtroom reasoning skills while engaging with contemporary legal issues.
Competition Structure
The competition will include memorial submissions, a researchers’ test, preliminary rounds, quarter-final rounds, semi-final rounds and the final round.
The declaration of results and valedictory ceremony will be held on a date to be notified later.
Eligibility
- Students pursuing an LL.M. programme, a five-year integrated LL.B. programme or a three-year LL.B. programme may participate.
- Participants must be enrolled in institutions located in the state of Odisha.

Registration Details
Interested participants can register through the registration link provided below. All teams must pay a registration fee of ₹1,500 before registration closes.

- Registration fee: ₹1,500 per team.
- Accommodation: The registration fee does not include accommodation for teams.
