The University of Wisconsin Madison welcomed its students back to campus this month with a free drag show, courtesy of the Gender and Sexuality Center.
On September 6, the Office of Student Transition and Family Engagement sponsored a “Drag Brunch Bingo” for its returning students. According to the student-run newspaper, The Madison Federalist, the show featured performances by drag queens such as “Krystal Kuttabish” and “Cynthia Mooseknuckle.”
“Join us for a FREE brunch and the chance to win prizes during Drag Bingo,” one event flyer read.
The event featured a slideshow explaining the basics of “drag” and encouraged students to “tip” the performers, which it described as customary.
Video footage from the event shows the drag queens performing provocative dances for students and accepting dollar bills as tips.

The drag queens even mocked Christianity during the bingo event.
At one point, the performers sarcastically commented that it was a “good Christian bingo with good Christian values.”
The Gender and Sexuality Center has a record of promoting LGBT ideology and related viewpoints to students across the university. The center offers a robust LGBT training program for students and faculty, featuring courses such as “Queer Interpersonal Life Skills Lab,” “Trans Health & Clinical Practice,” and “Pronouns Matter.”
Other resources provided by the center include ways students can obtain hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in an effort to “transition” genders.
Drag queen events have emerged at several campuses across the country in recent years.
For the University of Massachusetts Boston Class of 2025, a separate graduation ceremony described as a “Lavender Graduation” was held for LGBTQ+ students and featured drag queens.
In another example of Christianity being mocked by drag performances, a doctoral student’s thesis at the University of Nebraska featured a “Mass of Perpetual Indulgence,” which mocked the Catholic Mass.
The project was designed to “[celebrate] the queer body as a holy body, queer community as a sacred communion, and carnal pleasure as a consecrated sacrament.”
In a statement to The Madison Federalist, UW-Madison public affairs director Gillian Drummond deflected a question about where the event’s funding came from.
“Events are organized and funded by various campus departments, student organizations, and community organizations,” said Drummond.
