The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) announces The NUALS Moot — IIIrd Edition, a national-level moot court competition on international taxation. This edition takes participants into the world of Kerenia, where a cross-border investment dispute arises at the intersection of international tax treaty protection and anti-avoidance law.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS:
The NUALS Moot Court Society (MCS), recognized for organizing the prestigious NUALS International Maritime Law Arbitration Competition (NIMLAC), brings together practitioners and academicians specializing in international taxation and corporate law. The Society has distinguished itself through exceptional performances in international and national moot court competitions, and is renowned for its warm hospitality in hosting competitions.
ABOUT THE EVENT
The NUALS Moot (TNM) is a national-level moot court competition organised by the NUALS Moot Court Society, focusing on international taxation. The Previous Editions of NUALS Moot (TNM) brought together legal intellects from across India to explore the evolving complexities of International Taxation and Corporate Legal Structures in Cross-Border Share Acquisitions.
The competition followed a hybrid format, with the preliminary rounds and quarter-finals conducted online, followed by the semi-finals and grand finale at the NUALS campus. The event featured experienced legal practitioners, academics, and judges as adjudicators, offering participants exposure to high-level legal argumentation and advocacy.
EVENT FORMAT:
❖ Preliminary Rounds: All registered teams shall participate the Online preliminary rounds.
❖ Advanced Rounds: Top eight teams compete in online Quarter Finals. The four winning teams shall advance to the Semi-Finals.
❖ Semi-Final, Final Rounds & Valedictory: Offline round at NUALS campus, Kochi.

❖ Deadline for Clarifications – 20 September 2026
❖ Release of Clarifications – 22 September 2026
❖ Team Registration Deadline — 3 October 2026
❖ Deadline for Submission of Memorial – 13th October 2026
❖ Inauguration ceremony and orientation (Online) – 16th October 2026
❖ Preliminary round and Quarter Finals (Online) – 17th and 18th October 2026
❖ Semi-Final, Final Rounds and Valedictory Ceremony (Offline) – 24 October 2026
AWARDS:
❖ Winner: ₹50,000
❖ Runners-Up: ₹25,000
❖ Best Memorial: ₹15,000
❖ Best Speaker (Prelims): ₹5,000
❖ Best Speaker (Finals): ₹5,000
ELIGIBILITY:
❖ Open to students who are enrolled in a full-time 3 or 5-year law course
❖ International teams may participate with permission of the Moot Court Society.
❖ Team composition: 2-5 members.
❖ Maximum 32 teams accepted (first-come, first-served)
❖ Maximum two teams per institution
❖ Teams must submit a Bona-fide or No objection certificate (NOC) from the institution.
REGISTRATION PROCESS:
Team Registration is final only after the payment of the registration fees and after entering the requisite team details. The slots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Registration Fees:
❖ INR 4,000 per team
❖ Additional INR 5,000 for the Offline Rounds ( which covers accommodation charges for a three-member team. In case a team comprises more than three members, the accommodation fee shall be increased proportionately)
