The Society regularly organises panel discussions, guest lectures, workshops and academic initiatives aimed at encouraging meaningful engagement with public international law and global legal governance.

About the Panel Discussion

The panel discussion on “India’s Engagement with International Criminal Justice” provides students, research scholars and legal professionals with a platform to critically examine emerging issues in global justice mechanisms. The discussion seeks to go beyond a descriptive account of international laws and engage with the chosen theme through critical analysis, evidence-based frameworks and well-reasoned legal parameters.

The discussion will be structured around a central question: How can India engage with international criminal justice in a manner that is principled, evidence-based, constitutionally sound and sensitive to diplomatic realities?

Themes and Structure of the Discussion

The panel will move systematically across the following core areas:

  1. The legal and conceptual foundations of international criminal justice.
  2. India’s existing domestic framework and practice.
  3. Universal jurisdiction, piracy and the law of the sea.
  4. Accountability for war crimes and other atrocity crimes.
  5. Practical reforms and the role of civil society, victims and regional actors.
