About the Organiser

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab was established by the State Legislature of Punjab through the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab Act, 2006.

The University is approved by the Bar Council of India and registered with the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956. It has also been accredited with an ‘A’ Grade by NAAC.

RGNUL offers a five-year integrated law programme, LL.M. and Ph.D. programmes. The University has over 1,000 students pursuing legal education at its residential campus.

The competition is being organised by the Chair on Consumer Law (CCL), RGNUL. The Chair was established under the aegis of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India, to promote consumer law research, education, informed discourse and awareness regarding consumer rights and remedies.

About the Competition

The 1st RGNUL-CCL Short Video Making Competition 2026 focuses on contemporary developments and emerging challenges in Consumer Law. Participants may select one of the indicative themes or explore any other topic within the broader domain of consumer protection and welfare.

The competition will be conducted online, and both registration and submission are to be completed through the designated online form.

Competition Structure

Participants are required to create and submit an original short video of not more than two minutes. Individual submissions are permitted. Teams may consist of not more than two members.

Theme

The broad theme of the competition is Consumer Protection and Welfare. The indicative themes include:

  1. Dark Patterns: Manipulating Choice in the Digital Marketplace
  2. Consumer Law Meets Competition Law: Rethinking Consumer Welfare
  3. Influencers, Misleading Advertising, and the Psychology of Consumer Choice
  4. AI and Consumer Law: Rights, Risks, and Accountability in the Algorithmic Age
  5. Food Safety and Consumer Protection: The Regulatory Role of FSSAI
  6. Greenwashing: Deceptive Sustainability Claims and the Rise of the Green Consumer
  7. Dynamic Pricing and Digital Price Tags: Is the Consumer Getting a Fair Price?
  8. UPI and Fintech: Transforming Consumer Spending in a Digital Economy
  9. The Digital Consumer: How Technology Is Driving Consumption
  10. Product Liability in the Age of AI: Who Bears Responsibility When Technology Fails?
  11. The Right to Return: Evolving Consumer Rights in E-Commerce

The themes are indicative and not mandatory. Participants may explore any other topic within the broader domain of consumer protection and welfare.

Eligibility

  • Students from any academic level or discipline.
  • Researchers.
  • Professionals.
  • Representatives of NGOs and consumer forums.
  • Any individual with a genuine interest in consumer law and policy.

Individual submissions are accepted. Teams may consist of not more than two members.

Submission Guidelines

Videos must not exceed two minutes in duration. All submitted content must be original, created by the participant or participants, and must not infringe any third-party rights.

Participants are responsible for ensuring that their submitted content complies with applicable laws and regulations. Submissions should also adhere to accessibility standards, including closed captions, audio descriptions and universal design principles.

Participants may use their imagination and creativity to give voice and form to their ideas. Non-compliance with the prescribed guidelines may result in rejection of the submission.

Evaluation Criteria

Entries will be evaluated on the basis of creativity and originality of concept, relevance to the theme of consumer protection and welfare, technical execution and production quality, and visual appeal and impact.

Prizes

  • First Position: ₹5,000 and Certificate of Merit.
  • Second Position: ₹3,000 and Certificate of Merit.
  • Third Position: ₹2,000 and Certificate of Merit.

The winners will be felicitated during the National Consumer Rights Day 2026 celebrations organised by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India, New Delhi.

Registration Details

No registration fee is required for the competition. The registration and video submission processes are to be completed through the same designated online registration and submission form.

  • Declaration of Results: Nov 10, 2026.
