A Division Bench of Justices Gita Gopi and LS Pirzada declined the plea after considering a medical report stating that Asaram’s wife had responded well to treatment and was expected to be discharged within 2-3 days.
“When the patient has responded well to the treatment and both the doctors have opined that she would be discharged within the next two to three days, we do not find any reason to allow the application of the petitioner, who is presently in Jodhpur Jail, Rajasthan,” said the Court.
However, the Court allowed Asaram to seek permission from the jail authorities to communicate with his wife through video conferencing.
