Illegal Alien Released After NYC Sex-Abuse Arrest Charged With Raping Minor in Maryland

An Empower rideshare driver charged with raping and kidnapping a minor in Montgomery, Maryland, is an illegal alien from Guinea, according to Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin. Police say the driver took the girl to a parking lot and raped her inside his vehicle. Investigators believe there may be additional victims.

Melugin also reported that New York City police arrested Dia on June 10 on charges that included “sexual abuse by forcible compulsion, forcible touching — sexual/intimate parts of another person, injure child less than 17, and sexual abuse without consent.”

ABC News contacted the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office for comment on that case: “A spokesperson … said their office requested Dia be held on bond, though a judge ordered him out on supervised release.”

Such is the state of affairs in Kathy Hochul’s New York.

A news release posted on Montgomery County, Maryland’s official website stated:

Abdoulaye Dia of Lanham, Maryland, is charged with first-degree rape, kidnapping, second-degree assault and third-degree sex offense.

On Tuesday, September 15, 2026, Montgomery County Police officers were dispatched to an area hospital for the report of a rape that occurred earlier. Officers spoke with the victim, a teenage girl under the age of 18, who reported that she had been raped by an Empower ride share driver.

The victim told officers that Dia drove her to a parking lot in Silver Spring, where the assault occurred.

Special Victims Investigations Division detectives identified Dia through information obtained from the rideshare app.

On Wednesday, September 16, Dia was arrested in Lanham by the Montgomery County Police Repeat Offenders Unit.

Based on the circumstances of the investigation, detectives are concerned there may be other victims.

Dia is currently being held without bond at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.

The Department of Homeland Security confirmed to Melugin that Abdoulaye Dia illegally crossed the southern border near Lukeville, Arizona, on Dec. 21, 2023, and was released into the United States by the Biden administration’s Border Patrol.

Melugin, who covered the southwest border during the Biden years, noted that he and his team were in Lukesville on the day Dia entered the country, “doing live shots showing masses of African men crossing illegally.” One of the videos they filmed that day can be viewed in the post below.

Fox News contacted Empower for comment regarding Dia:

Empower told Fox News Digital that all its drivers undergo background, sex offender, motor vehicle, and Social Security traces. Furthermore, they are vetted against the same global watchlist used by Uber and Lyft, through the exact same screening provider.

“The background check, sex offender check, driving record check, social security trace, and global watchlist search on this customer were conducted on July 16, 2026 and did not reveal any incidents,” the company said about Dia.

Why did Dia’s June 10 arrest in New York City not appear in the background check? That question warrants an investigation — and some accountability.

This is simply one more serious crime allegedly committed by an illegal alien released into the U.S. by the Biden administration, which was more invested in importing future Democratic voters than in the safety of American citizens. Moreover, this crime could have been prevented if not for the leniency of a liberal New York judge.

I would like for Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) to weigh in on this latest atrocity. Will he rally to Dia’s defense, as he did for Kilmar Abrego Garcia in April 2025?
