First-Day Formalities, Infrastructure, and First Impression
It was helpful to many minorities. Although the legal aid is free, I observed that there are many people with grievances who got the opportunity to avail themselves of free legal aid and address their concerns.
Main Tasks
PIN number posting, helping people fill out the form for legal aid, and mainly spreading awareness about free legal aid for minorities. I also had to visit various rural areas of Bengaluru for this purpose.
Work Environment
I learned many things that were essential for litigation, such as case reading, registering PIM numbers on postcards, observing civil court proceedings, and spreading awareness in rural areas. This helped me learn many reality-based aspects of a career in law as a whole.
Good Things about the Internship
I learnt many reality-based things, especially at the grassroots level, which helped me understand several aspects that were difficult to digest. However, these were very important to learn, especially when it comes to a career in law.
For example, I had to spread legal awareness about free legal aid for minorities and low-income people in government schools, police stations, and many other places in rural areas of Bengaluru.
This mainly taught me about the basic infrastructure and functioning of authorities in rural areas, which books usually do not teach.
Bad Things about the Internship
It wasn’t bad at all, but I would say that there isn’t as much awareness about legal aid as I thought there would be. This may affect people who are aggrieved by their legal problems. To address this issue, we interns had to spread awareness about it, which I believe is very good and essential.

Anything else you want to share?
Yes, I did chill out, but at the same time, it was very engaging, especially because of how relevant this internship was to me as a law student who wants to pursue litigation.
