A small but vocal contingent marched outside OpenAI and Anthropic on Friday, demanding an emergency response to the accelerating AI race.
The demonstrators’ dire warnings of rogue agents and human extinction included all the apocalyptic predictions we have enjoyed during other mass hysteria events that leftists and their media minions have pushed over the last few decades.
Interestingly, the carefully curated message and custom t-shirts smack of something other than a grassroots movement.
AI critics took to San Francisco streets Thursday to call for action on the rapidly advancing technology, but their protest drew only a small crowd as some tech CEOs shrugged off rising alarm about creepy incidents involving rogue agents.
A few dozen protesters marched from OpenAI’s headquarters in San Francisco to Anthropic — adjacent to the massive Dreamforce tech conference that drew more than 40,000 attendees this week — before making their way to City Hall to demand local officials declare an emergency over AI.
“I was pretty scared about the possibility of extinction for awhile,” said Hunter Glenn, an organizer with Stop the AI Race.
The protesters called upon employees at OpenAI and Anthropic, both based in San Francisco, to quit their jobs and work towards internationally agreed-upon limits on the technology as researchers raise concerns about the possibility of runaway AI agents wreaking havoc on society.

AI protesters also engaged in cringe-inducing antics in Bellevue, Washington, outside OpenAI’s office.
Anti-AI protesters stormed into OpenAI’s office in Bellevue, Washington, in what may have been one of the most unserious demonstrations yet, complete with balloons and protesters dressed as rogue AI agents.
In a video posted on X, the protesters can be seen striking poses on staircases, waving their arms in unison, running around with balloons, playing leapfrog and clapping. The unusual demonstration quickly drew amusement online.
“Long gone are the days when revolutions involved pitchforks, torches, and angry mobs…” X user Mario Nawfal said. “The anti-AI crowd is getting TOO creative!”
Some commentators pointed to the lighthearted nature of the demonstration compared with past protests against tech companies, which have included activists chaining themselves to doors at Facebook and Twitter offices.

However, the really spectacular protests were in Poland earlier this week. The participants in this action were… robots.
Around 30 robots protested outside Poland’s digital affairs ministry on Monday, calling for tougher regulation of artificial intelligence and robotisation. The human organisers say there needs to be greater public debate over the impact of new technologies on the labour market.
Digital affairs minister Krzysztof Gawkowski met with the demonstrators, telling them that his department is working on regulations. However, one of the organisers said that plans currently being discussed by parliament contain insufficient protection for workers.
Standing in several rows, the robots waved Polish flags and chanted slogans such as “We want regulations, we want rules, we want law” and “Don’t wait, regulate, protect jobs”.
The organisers, a group called Democratism, said the event was intended to highlight the need for debate and legislation before automation has a more profound impact on employment.

The globalists and their allies in the press may believe the same old hoax playbook, complete with dire computer projections, manufactured urgency, and performative street theater, can still stampede the public into compliance.
But after decades of climate apocalypse, pandemic panic, and one “existential threat” after another, Americans have run out of patience for hysteria repackaged as serious forecasting.
Sensible AI policy is worth discussing; treating a few robots with protest signs and activists in costume as evidence that civilization is about to end is not.
