About the Organizer

The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) is a Deemed-to-be University established under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. IFHE is a National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) A++ Grade University.

ICFAI Law School, IFHE Off Campus, Bangalore is a constituent unit of IFHE. The School commenced its integrated law programme in 2024 at the IFHE Off-Campus Centre, Bangalore, following approval by the Bar Council of India in 2023. It offers an integrated five-year BBA.LL.B. (Hons.) programme.

About the Conference

ICFAI Law School, IFHE Off Campus, Bangalore is organising a National Conference on “Balancing the Scales: A Critical Analysis of India’s Four Labour Codes”.

India’s labour law framework has undergone a significant transformation through the consolidation of 29 central labour laws into four comprehensive Labour Codes:

• The Code on Wages, 2019

• The Industrial Relations Code, 2020

• The Code on Social Security, 2020

• The Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020

The conference seeks to provide a platform for academics, legal practitioners, researchers, students, policymakers and industry professionals to critically examine the four Labour Codes and their implications for workers, employers and the broader Indian economy.

Theme

The conference aims to generate nuanced scholarship on the balance between economic growth and worker welfare under India’s labour law reforms. Submissions may critically examine where the balance currently lies, whether it has tipped too far in one direction, and what recalibration may be required.

Submission Categories

Research papers related to the conference theme and the four Labour Codes may be submitted by eligible participants.

All authors whose abstracts are selected will be invited to present their papers at the conference.

Publication Details

A select few of the best papers may be published in a Scopus-indexed journal, subject to the recommendations of the review committee and compliance with the publication guidelines.

Selected full papers may also be published in an edited book with an ISBN by a reputed publisher or in a peer-reviewed journal with an ISSN.

Prizes and Certificates

• Best Presentation Award: ₹7,000

• Runner-Up Presentation Award: ₹5,000

• Certificate of Participation for all participants

Registration Details

Registration and fee payment must be completed only after receiving an acceptance email for the abstract. The registration and fee-payment guidelines and link will be shared with participants through the email IDs provided during abstract submission.

• IFHE Students: ₹300

• Students of Other Colleges/Universities: ₹1,200

• Research Scholars, Professionals and Academicians: ₹1,500
