Norway-founded legal AI company Newcode today (24 August) announced Series A funding round that brings its total funding so far in 2026 to $20m. While Newcode hasn’t stated publicly the value of this Series A, in March this year it raised $6.5m in seed funding.
The Series A, which will help Newcode expand into the US, was led by OnDean Forward with significant participation from The LegalTech Fund (also a seed investor), alongside Antiportfolio Ventures, Relativity’s investment arm Rel Labs, and other existing investors.
“The AI revolution is ultimately a great thing for law firms,” said Maged Helmy, founder and CEO of Newcode. “But to transform to AI-native, the legal market needs control and flexibility. Our mission is to help firms build AI capabilities that are truly their own.”
Newcode comes with multiple MCP connectors and has built a proprietary agentic retrieval system that contextualises information across the firm and its documents. Users can create unique work product for their customers by building workflows across data sources, or by accessing Newcode through a frontier model.
“We’re excited to work with Maged and the team at Newcode,” said Andrew Sieja, Relativity founder and principal partner at OnDean Forward. “The tech gives law firms a path to own their AI stack and helps them accelerate the use of AI across the practice and business of law.”
Newcode’s growth has accelerated sharply in 2026. The company now serves more than 60 law firms and government agencies across Europe and the United States. Annual recurring revenue has more than tripled in the last 12 months, with new customers added across Europe, the AmLaw 200, a growing base of U.S. deployments, and The Bar of Ireland, which provides support to more than 2,150 barristers across the country.
“We spend a lot of time with law firm leaders and heads of in-house legal teams,” said Zach Posner, managing partner at The LegalTech Fund. “They are consistent on one point: they want AI platforms that adapt to how they operate, not platforms that force them to adapt. Newcode has proven it can meet that demand, and we’re excited to support their continued growth.”
