One Israeli civilian was killed as Palestinians unleashed a wave of terror attacks on the eve of Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year. “A 30-year-old Israeli man was killed near the Neve Tzuf settlement north of Ramallah, hours before the Yom Kippur holiday, widely considered the holiest day in the Jewish calendar,” the Associated Press reported Sunday morning.
Multiple car-rammings and a deadly shooting were reported as Jews across Israel prepare for a day of prayer and fasting.

Israel’s Ynetnews reported “a shooting attack near Ein Ria spring, close to the community of Neve Tzuf in the West Bank hours before the start of Yom Kippur.” The victim was identified as a father of four, who was on a pilgrimage to the sacred spring in Israel’s Samaria region.
“Shakron was a father of six and worked as an information systems analyst at Hachshara Insurance Company, the Samaria Regional Council said. His wife, Dr. Meirav Shakron, is a lecturer at Ariel University,” the Jerusalem Post. “He had arrived at Neveh Tzuf to immerse himself alongside his eldest son, an 11th-grade student. His youngest child is four years old.

Separately, the IDF said a Palestinian attempted to ram troops with his vehicle at the site of the formerly evacuated settlement of Ganim in the northern West Bank.
Soldiers of the Paratroopers Brigade’s 890th Battalion stationed in the area opened fire on the car, killing the driver, according to the IDF.
A second Palestinian in the car was apprehended by the soldiers.
The Israeli military caught the terrorist at a West Bank hospital after a brief manhunt. “Minutes after the shooting, a soldier who was operating near the scene arrived at the location and fired at the terrorist. As a result, the terrorist was injured and fled the scene,” the Israeli military said in a statement. “IDF soldiers apprehended the terrorist after he fled to a hospital near the site of the attack.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed the terrorist’s capture and vowed to pursue those behind the attack. “Our security forces are currently pursuing the vile terrorist who carried out the murderous attack in Binyamin. No terrorist is immune, neither are those who assist them; we will settle scores with all of them – in Gaza, in Lebanon, and in Judea and Samaria,” the Prime Minister’s office announced in a press release.

Anticipating more terror attacks, the military is on “high alert” and has beefed up its presence across the country, “including throughout the fast,” the IDF assured. Not just the October 7 massacre, Palestinian terrorists have a history of carrying out attacks on Jewish and Muslim holidays.
“Ahead of Yom Kippur, we reinforced our soldiers on the frontlines and placed additional forces on standby for immediate deployment,” IDF Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, said while visiting the scene of the shooting attack. “On this holy day, as the people of Israel gather for Yom Kippur prayers, the IDF continues to stand guard.”
