Senior Advocate Pawan Mutneja appointed new Advocate General of Haryana

The post fell vacant this week after Senior Advocate Pravindra Singh Chauhan, who had been State’s top law officer since December 2024, was elevated as an additional judge of the High Court. He was administered oath of office on Thursday.

The same day, the State government notified the Governor’s decision to appoint Mutneja as new Advocate General with immediate effect.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 165(1) of the Constitution of lndia, the Governor of Haryana is pleased to appoint Sh. Pawan Kumar Mutneja, Senior Advocate, Punjab & Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, as Advocate General for the State of Haryana with immediate effect,” the State Administration of Justice Department said in the notification.
