In our latest TalkingTech product demo, Legal IT Insider’s editor Caroline Hill sat down with Peter Fisher, chief product officer at Morae, for a first look at MorAI Spend, the company’s newly launched AI-powered spend management solution, which is a key component of a broader new Legal Intelligence Platform.
Rather than simply providing dashboards and visibility into invoices, MorAI Spend pairs AI trained on legal billing data with expert review of every invoice – not just a sample -to tell you what you should be paying and where to direct spend to maximise impact. Morae says that one client moved savings from 8.5% to close to 18% while cutting 14,000 internal hours a year.
During the demo, Fisher explained how the platform ingests outside counsel invoices, automatically reviews them against billing guidelines, and uses human validation to ensure accuracy and trustworthiness. That combination of AI and expert review is central to Morae’s approach and one of the key ways it differentiates itself in an increasingly AI-focused market.
The platform highlights issues such as billing violations, staffing mix concerns, potential budget overruns, and opportunities to renegotiate with underperforming firms.
